One of the most famous and oldest water fountains is the Trevi Fountain where it was used in Ancient Rome.   Water was directed by channels back to the city and the outdoor fountain was not only a public display but the people of the city needed the water to live.   The people of the city enjoyed watching and listening to the water fountain, but used it for clean drinking water, cooking and bathing.   Making the water fountain not only enjoyable, but functional as well.
